The Fred Kern Jubilee Shield is the championship given to the Top Women’s Provincial Champion who advances to the Nationals Championships to vie for the Jubilee Trophy.
The most impressive attribute of Fred Kern is his longevity of serving Alberta Soccer, which is presently over 30 years. Fred Kern had been involved with Alberta Soccer since the mid 1980’s and had been very instrumental in many progressions with the development of soccer in Calgary, and Alberta. In addition to his tenure with Alberta, Fred Kern has served an equally impressive tenure with CMSA, eventually serving as President. Fred Kern has also donated much time with his contributions at the Canadian Soccer level, particularly in Competitions, while serving as President of Alberta Soccer from 2006-2009.
Upon completing his second straight term as President at the 2009 Annual General Meeting, The ASA board honoured Fred Kern, with awarding him the inaugural ASA Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to this prestige, The ASA board approved the naming of the current Jubilee Shield to the Fred Kern Jubilee Shield.
