(February 12, 2018) A new soccer season is just around the corner and Alberta Soccer is hiring new referees!

The game is continually growing, and each year we need to train new referees across Alberta to keep pace with the demand.

Certification courses for new referees begin on March 10th and continue until mid-May, with new courses being added to the system each week. Starting at 12-years-old, officials can referee 7v7 Mini Soccer and at 14 years, they can referee or assistant referee 11v11 soccer. The pay is competitive for a part-time job, and refereeing provides the opportunity for a flexible schedule that fits with school, work, or life commitments.

Refereeing can be an extremely rewarding experience, and we encourage anyone who is interested to sign up for a course – you may just find yourself enjoying a new role in the game.

Check out our video above (or on YouTube) to get an inside look into the various stages of Alberta’s refereeing world. The video shows referees in action, both in training and game situations, and includes interviews with active referees and instructors/mentors. We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
